Heritage Harvest - Preserving Local History

Join staff from FHSU Forsyth Library, ECHS, Hays Public Library, and volunteers for a day of preserving your family history!  Speakers will introduce you to such topics as genealogy research, preserving family heirlooms, digitizing photos and documents, and local research opportunities.

We will offer hands-on experience for you to digitize your family photos and gather historical information about them.  You can learn how to best care for family heirlooms and how to display them without damage.  You may also be interested in tracing your family tree to find where your people came from.

Throughout the day, knowledgeable folks will be available to answer questions about your photos and heirlooms, as well as specific research questions you may have.

Attend the Story Swap session to listen to area historian tell tales of days past, as well as contribute your own stories.  Guest panel members include Bob Wilhelm, Kevin Rupp, Leo Dorzweiler, Mary Ann Thompson, and Pete Felten.

You will leave the workshop with a flash drive of your memories. We ask that you please share your photos and histories with us so that we may add to our local collected history!
